Finished with the Temporary Fixes

Yesterday we finished up all the fixes that the appraiser needed to see, and the house now actually looks livable.  We worked for 10 days straight, but we got it done.  This was about the least rewarding work we've ever done, since we'll be ripping it all out when we start the remodel.  We were fairly grumpy by yesterday.  Oh well, it had to be done to get the loan.  On Monday the appraiser comes back, and it better get an "Average" rating.  Here's what we did:

• Removed blackberry and Ivy that was growing against the house.
• De-mossed the roof and cleaned gutters.
• Removed a full dumptruck load of garbage.
• Replaced missing siding around exterior window.
• Cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned some more.  It was disgusting.
• Replaced damaged drywall in the living room ceiling, and taped/mudded over some old cracks in the plaster.
• Repaired and replaced a couple deck railings.
• Replaced all exterior door knobs.
• Repaired some mold damage downstairs, and re-routed a gutter downspout that was the cause of the problem.
• Replaced missing bits of drywall in the downstairs bedroom and bathrooms.
• The biggie:  rebuilt the shower in the downstairs bathroom.  Replaced damaged studs, installed, new tile base and new vinyl sides, plus necessary drywall work.
• Rebuilt the lower half of the wall in the laundry room (adjacent to failed shower).
